Defend against relentless assaults from the arcane underworld

Enter. Survive. Extract.

Spriggan is a singleplayer first-person extraction survival game set in a late medieval world overtaken by corruption.

You deploy onto a hostile island, gather what you can, and try to make it back alive. If you fail, you lose everything.

Welcome to Spriggan

Spriggan is built around high-risk expeditions.

You start in a hideout, prepare your gear, choose a character, and enter the island. From there, the game gives you no safety nets.

You explore, fight, scavenge, and make decisions constantly:

Do you push deeper for better rewards
Do you extract early and play it safe
Do you risk nightfall

Every run is a trade-off between greed and survival.

Death is permanent for the run. Gear is lost. Characters are lost. Only what you extract actually matters.

What is Spriggan?
Core Loop

Prepare → Deploy → Explore → Decide → Extract or Die

You repeat this loop every session:

  • Prepare in the hideout

  • Deploy into the island

  • Explore points of interest

  • Decide when to leave

  • Extract or lose everything

Time matters. The longer you stay, the worse it gets.

At night, extraction becomes impossible and the world becomes significantly more dangerous, but also more rewarding

"… wasn't empty when we found it. True to the old Roman accounts, the island was littered by remnants of their first settlers. Structures that hinted at grand undertaking left withering away, strangely abandoned, crowned by a large crater of unknown origin nestled in the southwest of the island."

An excerpt from the Internal Report of Duskwatch Intelligence

The game takes place on Tarsay, a remote archipelago between Britain and Norway.

A celestial impact embedded crystal formations across the islands. These crystals spread a corruption that affects everything:

  • Wildlife turns hostile

  • Humans lose identity

  • The environment shifts

At the center of the island stands a large monolith, visible from almost anywhere. It acts as the main source of the corruption.

The island is not procedurally generated, but each expedition changes how it plays.

Enemy placements, encounters, and resources shift between runs.

The World

The corruption progresses in stages:

  • Infected

  • Husk

  • Fable

Early stages still resemble what they once were. Later stages do not.

Fables appear mainly at night and represent the most dangerous threats on the island.

Exposure to corruption is cumulative. The longer you stay, the worse the effects become, both mechanically

Combat

Combat is slow, deliberate, and stamina-driven.

Every action has commitment:

  • Attacks cannot be spammed

  • Positioning matters

  • Timing matters

Weapons include swords, axes, polearms, bows, and more. Each has its own moveset and role.

The system is built around control, not speed.

Exploration

The island is handcrafted but replayable.

You will encounter:

  • Large landmarks like ruins and castles

  • Smaller dynamic locations

  • Randomized encounters and patrols

You can follow safer paths or move through open wilderness for faster travel at higher risk.

Exploration is always tied to risk versus reward.

Survival Systems

You are managing more than combat.

  • Health and stamina

  • Hunger and status effects

  • Inventory weight and capacity

Carrying more slows you down. Fighting drains resources. Every decision has a cost.

Progression

Spriggan uses a split progression system.

Run-based progression

  • Gear and resources exist only during a playthrough

  • Death resets your current state

Meta progression

  • Unlock characters

  • Unlock recipes and systems

  • Improve starting options

There are no permanent power increases. You gain options, not raw strength.

The main progression comes from player knowledge and skill.

Characters

You control multiple characters, not a single hero.

  • Each character has unique traits

  • Each acts as a life within a playthrough

  • Death is permanent

When all characters are lost, the run ends.

The Hideout

The hideout is your base between expeditions.

Here you:

  • Craft equipment and consumables

  • Upgrade facilities

  • Manage NPCs and resources

It starts simple and grows over time, but it always requires maintenance.

Escalating Incidents

In Spriggan, you tread in the footsteps of the ancients, a mysterious civilization that once ruled the land. Only a few decades before the collapse of their empire, the Romans sought to extract valuable gemstones by bringing pagan enslaved people from Britannia. However, with no records of their withdrawal nor any cargo leaving the island, their fate is lost to time.

Centuries later, officials of the Duskwatch Order obtain Roman manuscripts, suggesting the Greavestone Archipelago possesses a bountiful reserve of ores and minerals, assets of immense importance for the financially struggling order. This discovery, after a millennium of dormancy, was a beacon of hope.

And with those excavations, new challenges arose.

The Spriggan Phenomenon

Spriggan is not just a game, it's a world you can shape. As a hosted multiplayer game, it offers immersive single-player gameplay and the flexibility to invite as many players into your world as your PC can handle. This flexibility empowers you to create the gaming experience you desire.

Spriggan is brimming with rich features, so many that it would take pages to explain them all. Instead, we’re creating videos to showcase the mechanics in a more engaging and accessible way.

Some examples include the lack of a HUD/UI visual inventory system, which hinders an immersive experience. Entity stats and levelling systems that cover players, citizens, jobs, tools, an in-game skill tree, and a permanent skill tree, each with its unique mechanics

Daytime Strategy: Build, Manage & Defend

The world is a 2x3 km island. On the east side, there is a sizeable inlet where a big river flows into, which the player starts at. In the next 300 meters west, there is the central “city” that stretches alongside the north side of a windy river, which the player plays in. To the north of the city are highland meadows and seaside cliffs, to the south, there are meadows and light forests and rivers originating from a mountain lake 1/3 from the west shore of the map, to the southwest, there is a semi-mountainous highland area, and to the northwest, there is a dark, brooding forest area.
